KAMPS stands by flood victims - 2024. Kidney Awareness Monitoring and Prevention Society (KAMPS), a voluntary organization, came forward to provide humanitarian assistance to flood-affected people with relief goods and healthcare equipment.
A team of around 10 members handed over the relief items to the leaders of the anti-discrimination student movement at the temporary relief collection centre at TSC in the capital on Saturday. KAMPS President, renowned kidney specialist and Head of the Department of Nephrology at Anwer Khan Modern Medical College Hospital, Professor Dr. M. A. Samad, led the team.
The relief items included approximately 8,000 packets of oral saline, 2,000 bars of soap, 2,000 bottles of hand sanitiser, and 200 mosquito nets. In addition, around one lakh health-awareness leaflets were distributed to raise awareness among the local population about health risks during and after the flood, and to inform them about ways to prevent diseases and risks associated with flooding.
On this occasion, KAMPS President Prof. Dr. M. A. Samad held a courtesy meeting with student representatives and administrative officials of Dhaka University, where they discussed and exchanged views on the current flood situation.
KAMPS often organizes free medical camps for flood victims in different parts of the country. A free medical camp was organized for flood-affected patients in a remote area of Tangail, Bangladesh. Ten doctors under the leadership of Dr. M. A. Samad attended the camp. About one thousand patients received free treatment and medicine. A health-awareness discussion meeting was also held to educate people about the prevention of communicable diseases.
